John Thompson
Looking to connect more with nature and myself, I was part of Freezone at its inception 12 years ago which introduced me to Shamanic practices
Some time later I was introduced to shamanic drumming, and I felt a physical and tactile connection to the earth and to Spirit, which opened up a new and creative part of me that I’d never felt able to do before. It enabled me to drop barriers, gain confidence and express myself – the drum was inspiring me and teaching me. I then engaged in drum birthing, and I felt a relationship with the drum and could hear its lessons and wisdom.
What I love about drumming together in a circle is its total inclusivity; it is such a simple yet deep instrument that anyone can be part of and be ‘good’ at. This ancient practice has been linking humans to each other, and to the earth and spirit, for millennia, fostering connections between people through rhythm.

Drum circles
All drums, all abilities, all ages welcome, through simple rhythms we aim to create a space to explore connection, creativity and fun. Some drums will be available if you don’t have one.
I am looking forward to sharing the passion I have for fun, releasing, and connecting drum circles at Freezone Festival, where all are welcome to connect with each other and our environment. We hold a shared space together with no judgement, hierarchy or ego – just connection and joy.
