Stuart Ward
Stuart first started practicing Chinese martial arts as a boy, with Praying Mantis and Wing Chun Kung-Fu. As his Kung-Fu practice deepened, he began to study Taijiquan (Tai Chi) as a way to complement his Kung-Fu practice by softening the body, quietening the mind and building internal energy.
It wasn’t long before the depth of Tai Chi practice presented itself and took over as his main focus of training.
Stuart has spent the last 12 years focused solely on Chen style Tai Chi, continuing his training in Oxford as a disciple to 11th generation lineage holder, Grandmaster Kongjie Gou.
Stuart’s Aim when teaching Tai Chi is to keep the traditional training methods alive, while making the training process clear for the western practitioners.
Stuart understands that Tai Chi can mean different things to different people, be it for health cultivation, mindfulness practice, playful movement or as an effective martial art.
Ultimately Stuart believes that with correct and persistent practice Tai Chi should bring balance into all areas of the student’s life.
